Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Greg Fullin Update - received 2/14/05.

We just concluded our two day Valley Elementary League Wrestling Tournament where we had Greg in as our special honorary guest and awarded him with a plaque in recognition of his strength, courage, determination and his positive mental attitude. The day started off well for Greg as he watched some of his former teammates wrestle and win their placement matches for 3rd, 5th and 7th places. It got even better as on of Greg’s good wrestling buddies, Joey Rizzolino, asked Greg to be one of his escorts in our Championship Finals Parade of Champions. After all 34 wrestlers were introduced, Greg was presented with his plaque and received a good 3-5 minute standing ovation from the packed gym. I honestly don’t think their was a dry eye in the gym. This young man should be a hero to all of us. He smiled the whole day while he was in the gym and showed nothing but a positive attitude. He is a winner in the game of life and always will be. Greg then presented our four division championship teams, Pen Argyl, Parkland Red, Northampton and Emmaus, with their championship plaques and had pictures taken with each. Our final presentation was the leagues dual meet championship trophy, a trophy which was as big as Greg, which he presented to the 6th grade wrestlers and the coach from Pen Argyl. They got a great shot of that on with the kids around Greg. As soon as I get all the pictures from the day of Greg, I will forward them on to Mark for posting on the website. We are truly blessed to have such an extraordinary young man involved with our organization. We love you Greg and we will always be praying and pulling for you in your fight to recover. Keep up the great attitude and the hard work. Thanks, Todd Polly

in your prayers!
Also, if you could take the time to send a card, donate money, or at least drop Greg an email of encouragement, I am sure it will be appreciated more than you can imagine. Info on how to do each are posted above.

Hi it's me Greg. I am doing very well in school. They have most of the ramps in Catasauqua here for me. My teachers are really cool ! Even my aid and the janitors are alot of fun ! What I do for fun is go to the park and play football with my friends-they let me be the all time quarterback. Just yesterday I went to pick pumpkins with my friends from Northampton. I picked out a 22 lb.one, but I didn't care because I hope they know how much they mean to me. In therapy they have me toning my muscles so I can lift up my body weight. My therapist Nate is a real nice funny guy, so I only pick on him a little. I also go to pool therapy once a week, and my therapist Annette is really cool, she only dunked me once! I know the wrestling season is coming soon, and my mom says she'll take me to see the matches, so hopefully I'll get to meet alot of you reading this sometime soon. Thank You for being supportive and sending me all of the Get Well cards. That means alot to me. Your friend, Greg

Message from Cheri Fullin - received 7/17/04.

Greg has been home since July 2nd and he is doing very well. He is very happy to be home!  He hasn't been outside much because the wheelchair he has(until his fitted one gets here-about 3 months) is an ADULT one and is not very user friendly for him to get around in...We do go for small walks to get some fresh air.

He is currently @ Good Shepherd for outpatient therapy 3 days a week. He went one day to the pediatrics- but the therapist called the next day and said he would benefit much better @ the adult program.( A perfect example -which I figured would happen- at how he IS such a hard worker and truly does his best to achieve the goals they may have for him...

There have been no changes as far as any type of feelings coming back to him in his legs but he keeps praying every night that he will be kept safe. He also prays for others he sees or hears about that they can get better...I'm writing this and thinking about something he mentioned to me this week when I was helping him into the car...He said"Mom, I'm glad this happened to me and nobody else, because if this would have happened to someone else- I don't think they would have lived- the only reason I made it was because I was so healthy and strong."    OK, so now I'm really taken back by this, and knowing that he's been through SO much and this "thought" is coming from him..I asked him what he meant by -nobody else-? He says, " Anybody in the 5th grade here, cause if this would have happened to any of my really close friends and they would've died, I just don't know  what I would do mom." I just couldn't hold back the tears hearing this, but afterwards realized that my little guy was going to be just fine reguardless of the outcome of things...

His friends have been visiting him often and keeping him busy during the day playing board and card games, video games or playing basketball out on the deck. He has such a wonderful, supporting group of really cool kids to hang out with...I just have to mention them here because without them, Gregs spirits might not be as they are...so Nick, Kyle, Jake, Erin, Nicole, Alexa, Nathan, Noah, Brian, Chris and Greg R. Thank-You so very much for being here for Greg !!!

Also, Thank-You everyone else for your constant support and prayers...including the anonymous ones. I think about each and every one of you, every day, that have made a difference in our lives.            Cheri Fullin

Relayed through Todd Polly

For information's sake, the Cut-a-Thon for Greg went well.  I still have not heard word on the Golf benefit and how it did, but when I know I will let you know.  Also, thanks to all the people and wrestling clubs who have donated to Greg's fund. - Todd

Greg is now able to stay up and about in his wheelchair throughout the whole day. He has a pretty busy schedule from about 9:00 am until about 4 or 5 pm. including therapies, schooling, and some fun activities with a break for lunch.

He is doing very well in Physical and Occupational therapy and getting his strength back. They currently have him standing with special braces on while holding himself up on bars or special elbow -like crutches. This is very difficult for him to do, nevertheless he is doing it and trying his best...the sad part of that is when he's standing (He Realizes More) that he can't walk. He has not gotten any more feeling back in his legs...and this is starting to weigh heavily on him, so any letters or cards or E-mails with words of encouragement to lift his spirits would really help. They just took x-rays of his spine to see if they can work with him without his back brace on- hopefully by next week that will come off.

He fills his evenings with my brother or myself with Sean and Taylor playing basketball, Yatzee, Uno or  Who wants to be a millionaire on the computer at the library. He still kicks my brothers butt in Yatzee and Uno but I'm not as easy on him...lol

As far as I have last heard he will be coming home July 2nd, but will still be doing out- patient therapies here close to home. I know he can't wait to come home and is very much looking forward to this day...

Thank-You for all of the support you send our way. Please keep him in your prayers!

Hello everyone,
Greg is doing very well at the Seashore House with his physical and occupational therapy...On his 3rd day, Heather (his therapist) was impressed with his desire to do all he could and said , "Wow Greg, most kids in your situation do this only after 2 or 3 weeks here." At this point- he was still getting very dizzy and feeling sick- nevertheless he did his very best and pushed himself as much as he could... Now he is in a sitting position throughout most of the day and feeling pretty good. He is with his Uncle Jimmy and I am at home trying to get things in somewhat of an order for his return. He starts early in the morning with 4 sessions of therapy-with breaks in between, schooling and other fun classes that the hospital has, and is finished around 4 or 5 p.m. Greg told me he did 100 pull-ups on the bars yesterday and said he is feeling stronger every day !!! He tells me, " Mom, when I get home I'm going to climb up the steps! The therapists here wont let me try it yet because of my back injury but I KNOW I can do it ! " He's telling me so many different ways that he can do certain things in our home here... He always was one whos mind and train of thought just never ended... it's what helped him to be the best at everything he wanted to be. Also, and this is very cute, his brother Sean and sister Taylor are doing push-ups every day so that they can be strong and help Greg with anything he needs when he gets home. They miss him soooo much !
He just got bombarded with letters, cards and candy and was so happy. I guess because he hasn't gotten any for a while since his transfer. The nurses he has are so wonderful to him and I know he really likes them all. When asked if he had a favorite he said , "Yes, each and every one of them." Here is a reply from one of the nurses: Yesterday, 5/4/04 Greg played one- on -one wheelchair basketball with his uncle Jimmy and beat him. It was great. Then they played cards and Greg told me "I kicked his butt". Poor Uncle Jimmy took a beating from Greg.

Greg is a pleasure to have here and we all love him. He's determined to get out of here ASAP. We will all be happy for Greg when he goes home, but I know we are all going to miss him. Love,
Amanda (Greg's Nurse)

I'm writing this and thinking, and I just have to tell you all, so that you understand how "beautiful" Greg's character is... When I was at the Seashore house last week, I wanted to comfort Greg as much as I possibly could - and honestly, I think he comforted me more than I did him. He's just so sweet and kind and his sense of humor is the BEST ! He is so funny and had me laughing quite a few times every day. He was looking out for me too, telling me every time I lifted him from his chair or bed to " bend at the knees" so I wouldn't hurt my back. I have SO much Love and Respect for him and I can see myself actually learning from him...not what you would expect from your own child. He truly is an amazing person.
Although each of you have us in your prayers, I want you to know I thank the Lord every day for ALL OF YOU. Sometimes when things seem a little overwhelming we get this inner strength that helps us along and I believe it comes from YOU.

With much love,
Cheri

Greg still hasn't gotten a certain schedule yet but should by tommorrow. He'll be working pretty hard at occupational and physical therapy for about three hours a day as well as schooling to keep him up to date. He seems happy to be here and has already mentioned he is going to try his hardest so that he can " come-home" sooner : ) They say he'll be here 1 to 1 1/2 months.

Greg will be going to the "Children's Seashore House" of Philadelphia on Monday via ambulance. The building is connected to C.H.O.P. ( Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia ) As soon as I get a room # from his transfer I'll have it posted.

He seems pretty excited to go after hearing they have a basketball court and a pool... He did mention that swimming might not be such a great idea (under the circumstances) and even joked about it ! - but was really happy to learn that "pool-therapy" would be part of his recovery. He's already mentioned that he could "still" play basketball even if he was in a wheelchair...already a great sign of him NOT giving up. His stay there will be around 1 month or so. From what I understand he'll be pretty busy during the daytime hours and have some free time in the evenings. He's been trying very hard the past two days to get into the wheelchair and go up a ramp inside the hospital and doing a great job at it. He feels pain in his back after this -but he needs to get out of bed and the room he's in and not get used to laying in bed all day.

He thinks the food is so "nasty" and I have to laugh every time they bring in his trays for him... ( The expression on his face is like watching a horror movie! ) He likes to get whoever is there visiting to eat some of it for him so he doesn't get in trouble when they check to see if he's eating ! Of course theres always someone around or on their way that has some "cool" fast food order for him. He's already asked for Subway for tomorrow.

Greg said he wanted me to tell everyone on the site here, and I quote, " Thank-you for believing in me, praying for me, and for all the support you give to me." He thinks its really neat that he has so many people sending cards and e-mails to him. He just can't believe that SO many people care and respond to him...and is very much looking forward to attending a Penn State match next year to cheer on a young man who invited him to do so. Each and EVERY ONE of you has really helped to keeps his spirits up !!! Thank-you for helping him along the way with his journey to recovery.
I'm sending hugs to all of you !!!

I just got back from a nice visit with Greg and Cheri Fullin,
meeting both of them for the first time, and let me tell you something, these two people are so admirable for the strength and courage they both possess. In all honesty, in the true sense of the words HERO, the two of these are right up there along with our troops over in Iraq. I truly admire these two and the attitudes they and their family members that are there with them during this time. I truly believe after meeting these two individuals personally, that along with the great power of prayer that God will lay his healing hands upon Greg and he will walk again. As a matter of fact, when we left there I told him, “Greg, I know for a fact that I will see you walking on the wrestling mats again, it may not be wrestling, but I know I will see you walking on those mats. Keep the faith!!!” He just looked at me and my wife and smiled with a smile that said….”You are darn right I will!!!”
I wanted to write you a note to post onto the site to convey a few messages to our fellow wrestling siblings about what is happening with Greg:

- The cards and e-mails have been tremendous attitude boosters to both Greg and Cheri and they are very much appreciated. Please, keep your e-mails and cards coming.

- Greg is going to be transferred to another hospital within the next week. Cheri is still not sure exactly which one, but as soon as she knows she is going to let me know and I will post the new address for cards to be sent to. So, if you are going to send a card to Greg, please hold it until you get the new hospital address. I will post it as soon as I have it.

- The recovery fund is coming along. With this move to a different hospital out of the area, expenses for Cheri are going to become a little exuberant and anything we can do to help offset these expenses would be greatly appreciated. For those of you who have already been so generous, both Cheri and Greg along with those of us involved with the fund, appreciate you more than you will ever know. Please help us in making this fund work for the Fullin family in ways they could never imagine.

- For those who have visited Greg already with your stories of being told the same things Greg has been told about his young life and you have gone on to prove them all wrong, the testimonies and stories are greatly appreciated by both Greg and Cheri. Also, the e-mails that have come in with these same stories have been true pick-me-ups for these guys. Please, keep them coming and if you are in the area of wherever Greg is or winds up being, stop in and give him your words of encouragement.

- Probably the most important of all the notes, there were many that said Greg would not make it when he was first brought to the hospital. And then when he did they said he would probably lose all his mental capacities. When that didn’t happen they said he will never walk again. We, as a big community of brothers and sisters have been saying our prayers from the day we knew of this accident, and through the power of that prayer and God’s healing hands, along with Greg and his families attitude of proving them wrong, Greg has proven them wrong all along the way. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep these guys in your daily thoughts and prayers and spread the word to everyone you know, whether they wrestle or not, to keep this family in their prayers. I know another miracle from God can happen.

In closing, I would like to thank all of you who have responded to this situation with your e-mails, cards and donations. I wish you could meet Cheri and Greg and see how they light up when they mention the cards and letters they have received. Please keep them coming.

Cheri loves the web site and is so happy to be able to give us updates on Greg’s progress. If there are any of you that have any great ideas on how we can raise more money into this fund, please contact myself or my wife Jeanette at the e-mail address and/or phone number that are found on this webpage. At this point we are kicking around a few ideas to raise some money. One is a night out dancing and another is a golf tournament, both done in honor of the Greg Fullin Recovery Fund. If you know there are things we are missing in trying to raise money for this fund, please contact us and let us know what we can do to get the ball rolling. We are just a couple of caring people, with not much moxie when it comes to things like this, trying to help out a great family that is in need right now.

Thank you to all,
Todd & Jeanette Polly

Greg has just today been moved to Pediatrics and out of Intensive-care. He will not be getting surgery as the Doctors feel he doesn't need it. His severe spinal injuries (explained to me today) are inside the bone of the spine where the nerves are. There is still some swelling in there. He wears a special back brace to keep him stablized for now... He's been feeling alot of pain for the past 2 days but Tylenol seems to help with that. The physical therapists have him sitting in a wheelchair as long as he can tolerate it. His next move is to go to an In-Patient Physical Therapy Hospital...

He looks forward to the mail he receives and I do take his E-Mails to him every day. To those of you who've sent mail about being in similar situations...being told you'd never walk again and have...or never giving up on life and always knowing you had a purpose...and telling of your (or someone you may know of ) stories and lifes journeys...I want you to know that they are truly inspirational for him. He likes to reread them often.

I think the nurses might miss him in ICU... I walked in the room the other day and saw him eating Cotton Candy ice-cream ( his favorite ), I said " Wow, they have that flavor here?" He starts laughing at me and says, " No mom, one of the nurses brought it for me! " They also did what they could to keep him there a day or two longer before his transfer today. They were just so sweet and kind to him.

He can now move a little more of his stomach on his own. He still can't feel the area but is so glad that he can make it move when he wants to. He has bands tied to the side of his bed to do pull exercises to keep his arms strong. He does 26 pulls every morning and every night - that was his football jersey # last year. He said to me on the phone tonight that his legs kept moving every now and then without being touched by anyone. He was excited about this because they ususally only move when someone touches them, which is like a muscle spasm. He said he can kinda feel it a little in his buttocks area when this happened. Wishful and hopeful thinking?...I guess only time will tell... I know I'm looking forward to seeing this for myself... He still has a good attitude towards recovery and is doing and trying his best to get there.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank-you,
Cheri

Gregs brother Sean is 9 and also into wrestling. Taylor, his sister, is 6. They attend Sheckler Elementary school. They both miss Greg terribly and are very worried about him. I took them to see Greg for the first time today since the accident to see him. It was great to see the smile on Greg's face! The first thing he wanted to do was tell them that they could have some candy from his Easter baskets he got from the hospital. He informed me in a telephone call later at home here to not tell them ( that he wanted it to be a surprise ) that he was going to give them all the baskets he gets there from the nurses and staff. He said it was the least he could do since he hasn't been able to see and spend much time with them and he wanted to make sure they had a great Easter.( What a big brother.)

As for Greg's injuries, I know there is alot of confusion as to what exactly is wrong with him, so I will try to best explain...
He has 3 fractures in his skull, but has been communicating as sharp as before. From day 1 he has done everything the nurses have asked him to (ex.) squeezing hands as many time as asked and blinking eyes. He has no memory loss and his thinking skills "as well as his sense of humor" are still there.
One of the first things he asked for me to get him was his " I-Quest " (a learning game) because he missed school. I think his neck is fine, just had some swelling in it.
He has a few broken ribs, and from what I understand 3 crushed vertebrae that has caused pressure on his spinal cord. Both of his hips are fractured. He hasn't been able to move his feet or legs. He did mention today though that his right leg felt weird like pins and needles...not sure yet if this means anything.

The -doctors- say that he will never walk again but I am not yet ready by any means to accept this...I've heard ( AND MET PEOPLE ALIKE ) too many stories of them being proved WRONG and am not giving up hope in this matter. His 1 lung is still somewhat weak but they are everyday, numerous times, giving him treatments to help it get better. I am giving this information with the O.K. by Greg so that when you think of and pray for him you know just what it is that you are asking to be healed. Miracles DO happen and if you know Greg, then you KNOW that he deserves, and can do whatever it takes, to make things happen in his favor. His will power is amazing for someone at such a young age!

The nurses at the Hospital have been so wonderful to him and some of them have formed a bond of friendship with him. They have commented to me on what a "great" patient and person he is...You can tell they really do care about him and they're not just doing their job. Two of them played Uno with us and his grammy, by his request, and we had such a good time, the laughter was non-stop with our conversation of funny "stories." One of the nurses left a hand made card for Greg last night ( was so beautiful ) with some money for him, but he said when he sees her he's giving it back...that he just really enjoyed her company. This is exactly what is "so special" about his character. I'm wondering if he was "sweet" on these nurses cause they each won out of the two games we played...the little stinker kept making ME pick up extra cards. Just to let you know, Greg absolutely loves the cards and mail he gets every day...Thank-You for taking the time out to see and read how he's doing...Please "keep" him in your prayers.

Greg has just been able to talk for the last two days...
They wanted to pull his breathing tubes out on Sunday morning but found a few things from his MRI that made them change their minds.

Well, Greg said he had a dream that night that a little girl was teasing him and shoving bubble-gum down his mouth...
He said he wasn't going to let this girl do this to him so he pulled the tubes out in his sleep thinking it was the gum balls (Greg knew the importance of these tubes and knew it was imperative to have them in, so the nurses were able to trust him without tying his hands at night).
The machines went off, the nurses came in, and Greg got very scared realizing what he had done...
turns out he did just fine without them and now because of it is breathing on his own.
I just mentioned to him that perhaps it was his "Guardian Angel" teasing him and letting him know that he does in fact have the strength to move forward at this point with his recovery- He had the biggest smile!
His lungs are still filling with fluids but it is less and less every day.

As I was writing this he called crying for me to "please" come to the hospital to tuck him in---he felt very lonely and scared,
so I am just returning from there and he seemed safe and secure... We both cuddled and watched -Happy Gilmore- together. He's so huggable!!!

All responses from this web-site I will print and take to him the next morning.
So every kind word and words of encouragement will be passed on to him and I can assure you he will appreciate each and every one of them.

Mrs.Fullin
P.S. Greg is 11 yrs.old and in 5th grade. Thank-you so very much for taking the time to include Greg in your prayers, and I will definitely keep you posted.

Hey guys,
After receiving an email from Cheri (above) this morning asking for the posts that have been made about Greg so she could read them to him,
I thought we should have an email account for anybody who just doesn't have the time to send a card in, they can pop an email over.
I set up the following account for Greg, so if you want to get the word out, we can also get the word to Greg and his family that we are thinking of them and praying for them via e-mail also.

The email address is as follows:
gregfullinrf@earthlink.net

I will manage the account from my computer and forward on to Cheri so that she can print off and read them to Greg. I am not sure if it is possible for Greg to have a computer while he is in the hospital or not or if Cheri even wants that, but if that is a consideration, I will work on getting a donated laptop that we can get for them and that way Cheri can have all this info right at her fingertips without having to worry about printing stuff off and only getting it late at night.

Thanks again to all you guys that are helping out with this.
I know we can make a difference in this family's life.

Have an awesomely great day,
Todd Polly

I've just returned from the Hospital where Greg is and learned of the website you have here for him...
I am very lucky to have been blessed with such a wonderful, talented, mature, intelligent and "strong" young man and I thank the Lord every day that he is still here with me...
Gregory has been through so much and has so much more to endure, and I believe the power of PRAYER has helped- and so I'm asking that you PLEASE, PLEASE post my letter here on the site so that everyone who reads it will ASK their church or parish to have my sons name on their prayer list for that service
( Gregory Fullin )
He is such a wonderful little guy and I have NEVER-EVER known him to give up on ANYTHING in his life. He is a fighter and I know he will get through this, but with everyone beside him in prayer it will give him the strength he needs to carry on.

For everyone who has been there for my son and my family I want to Thank-You with all of my heart.
You are truly beautiful people and we are so blessed to have your support.

Hi all,
I am sending this to every e-mail address that I have in my address book associated with wrestling
in the hope that each of you can help spread the word on this to make it a worth while thing for this family.

For those of you who have not gotten any updates or have not heard of this news, I will state the tragedy that has happened and then what we as concerned friends and part of a tight knit wrestling society are trying to do to help.

Last Saturday on of our wrestlers and their father were in a terrible accident. Jeff Fullin and his son Greg were returning home from their local MAWA tournament when Jeff lost control of his car and they were involved in a terrible accident.
Seat belts saved their lives thank God.
Jeff is in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenburg recovering from his injuries. I am not sure the details or full extent of Jeff’s injuries at this point.
Greg, a fine young wrestler, was severely injured and is in Lehigh Valley Hospital PICU unit with some severe internal injuries. At this point I know that he has a crushed hip, broken ribs, and some major spinal cord damage.
The damage is bad enough that Greg may possibly never walk again.

At this point we are asking for some assistance in helping the Fullin family through their time of strife and need in various ways.
- We greatly appreciate all the prayers and thoughts that have been going on over the past week and we ask for them to continue…we know miracles can happen through the grace of God.
- We would love any and all cards of encouragement that you could send in an attempt to keep spirits high for the Fullins. Currently, the address to send these cards to is:

Lehigh Valley Hospital
c/o Greg Fullin, Room J445A
Cedar Crest Blvd & I-78
Allentown, PA 18105

- We also ask that you help out this family in the time of their need with monetary donations sent to the recovery fund (address posted at top of this page).

For those of you who have been so generous so far, please continue the generosity and know that we are here if you need us at any time.
Please help us bring a small miracle to the Fullin family, if not financially, then with a word of encouragement or love.
EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!!!

Thank you so much for your concern and your anticipated support in this matter,
Todd Polly/Mark Minotti/Jim Pellechia
