Tournament Listing Policy
| Tournament listings change in policy Because of the cost of operating PYW there is a need to make a couple of changes in PYW policy. PYW will now have a small charge to post tournaments. In the past PYW has relied on donations from the tournaments to help support the work. While some tournaments have been willing to help support it seems unfair that all tournaments that use PYW to list their tournaments are not supporting the site in a small way. I have had several of the larger tournaments tell me that 90% - 95% of the forms that they receive come from the PYW site. Although PYW does not take credit for the success of these tournaments it is clear that the tournaments do benefit from Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling. I am only going to charge a small amount (less or equal to one entry per listing page in most cases) for each tournament. I will still offer to do banners for those tournaments that want more visibility. The purchase of a banner also helps support the work of PYW and is greatly appreciated. Below are the charges – $15 for a single tournament listing page $20 for two tournament listing pages $30 for all three listing pages $50 for a banner and two listing pages $60 for a banner and all three listing pages • Effective immediately – Tournaments that have already made a donation are already considered paid regardless of number of pages or donation amount. (Thank You) • Tournaments that are listed but have not made a donation will be removed at the beginning of Sept if they have not paid. • PYW will consider fundraisers for charitable causes on an individual basis for free advertisement. It is and will continue to be PYW policy and spirit to help individuals in need. • If you are interested in any other advertisement on PYW please call or email Mark Morris @ pywrestlingmark@yahoo.com (717) 691-8134 If you have any questions please direct them to me at the above email address. Tournament Result Policy
| Tournament Result Policy Tournaments Result Policy PYW is committed to providing information to the youth wrestling community. Every open tournament who lists their tournament with PYW has the option of submitting their tournament as one who will provide results back to PYW or not. There is no pressure for tournaments to supply results but PYW does appreciate those tournaments that do supply results. When a tournament commits to supplying results and fails to do so they are showing a lack of integrity to PYW and the wrestling community. In the past if a tournament failed to provide result they were not permitted to list their tournament on PYW for the following year. I have attempted to contact tournaments to remind them to submit results and many times did not even receive an email back. For those tournaments that did respond with a reasonable explanation I usually took them off the list. Below is the new policy for tournaments who fail to provide results. 1) A tournament who has committed to providing results has 3 weeks to submit them. a. Most tournaments provide results within a few days or a week. PYW does understand however that sometimes it will take a little longer. b. If you have extenuating circumstances please contact me and we will try to work it out. 2) Tournaments who fail to provide results in this time frame will be put on the list of tournaments who have failed to provide results. 3) Once the tournament has been put on the “no results” list they will have three options. a. Do not list your tournament on PYW the following year. b. Pay $25 for supplying results late and supply the results. c. Pay $40 for failure to supply results. 4) For tournaments that are on the list as of Aug 8, 2006 you have 1 week to supply results without any penalty. 5) Novice tournaments are never required to supply results but PYW is happy to post them if the tournament sends them in an acceptable format. 6) Most dual tournaments only provide team results so they will not be included in this policy since PYW does not ask them to provide results. a. Many people are very interested in the results of dual tournaments and PYW is happy to post results when they are provided. b. Dual results will only be added to the forum unless they give individual results also. (i.e. Fall Brawl last year) 7) Acceptable formats for results are XLS, Microsoft word or plain text emailed to PYW. a. PYW will not take responsibility for getting your results from a website. The tournament is required to send them via email. b. PDF can be used for results on occasion but is not the preferred format for results. The purpose of this policy is not to keep anyone from posting their tournament nor is it to collect money. It is to get all tournaments to submit results when they commit to doing so. My hope is that every tournament submits results in a timely fashion. I spend countless hours posting results and even searching for results around the country to provide to the wrestling community and feel a tournament should be willing to follow through on their commitment. Tournaments are still free to list their tournament and not supply results if that is the way they choose to list them. If you have any questions or concerns please email me @ Mark Morris Mark Morris Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling |

Top 100 tournaments
I have had a number of people contact me about Top 100 tournaments and how a tournament becomes a Top 100 tournament.
First let me explain what a Top 100 tournament is
A top 100 tournament is a tournament that is designated as a one that a PA wrestler can compete in and if he places will be awarded Top 100 points. Throughout the season a list of those awarded points is kept and updated. At the end of the season a list of all these wrestlers can be found on the website.
The top 100 is designed to motivate youth wrestlers to be the best they can and to draw the toughest competition in the area, state and other states to that tournament.
Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling seeks to recognize as many wrestlers as possible (That is why the list of all those who get point is posted on the site.)
In the summer of 2003 Wayne Beaver posted a poll on the website forum asking for votes for those tournaments that should be in the Top 100. After the voting the Top 100 tournaments were chosen by votes with a few others added.
Last year all those tournaments that were previously Top 100 tournaments were again invited to be Top 100 tournaments. After I received confirmation back from those tournaments I invited a few others to try and make things balanced geographically.
I am not seeking to add any other tournaments except to replace those tournaments that have decided to no longer be a Top 100 tournament. When an opening occurs I look to replace that tournament with a quality tournament in the same area of the State.
I ask for $50 from each Top 100 tournament to help with the cost of running the Top 100 and to help cover cost of awards, certificates…etc at the end of the year.
If any slots become available I will post them on the website forum and in the news section and anyone who is interested in hosting a Top 100 tournament will need to contact me. I will make a decision based on location, history, quality and format of the tournament.
If you have questions please feel free to contact me about them.

(where the color changes from red to blue) 3) The back lettering will also be outlined in white. (letter style may change)
